Worth knowing
Vitamin E is a group of eight related compounds (tocopherols and tocotrienols), of which the human body makes most effective use of alpha-tocopherol — which is why it forms the basis of intake reference values.
As a fat-soluble vitamin, it is absorbed best in the presence of fat in the meal. Its deficiency on a typical, varied diet is rare — it more often affects people with fat-absorption disorders.
