Worth knowing

Riboflavin gives its solution a characteristic yellow colour — and it is responsible for the intensely yellow tinge of urine after taking a high-dose multivitamin. This simply results from the excretion of excess water-soluble vitamin; if this sign worries you or persists with no connection to supplementation, discuss it with a doctor, not a reference table.

The vitamin is sensitive to light — milk stored in transparent packaging in sunlight loses part of its riboflavin faster than the same milk in opaque packaging.
